An Abiding Standard
Professor Robert Meyrick, co-curator of the RA's exhibition of Stanley Anderson, reassesses the work of this now marginalised printmaker and Royal Academician.
In this lecture Meyrick suggests that Anderson’s art, such as his engravings memorialising England’s vanishing rural crafts, should be seen not as apolitical and nostalgic, but instead as a commentary on the spiritual emptiness, emotional detachment and elitism he regarded to be the hallmarks of modernity.
A limited number of tickets will be available on the door of the event. No admittance after 1pm.
