Built by the Knights Templar in the 12th century, Temple Church is one of only three Norman round churches left in England. Friends enjoy an introduction to the church’s history and architecture given by Revd. Robin Griffith Jones, Master of the Temple, after which we have a tour of the private reception rooms at Middle Temple and three-course lunch in the magnificent Middle Temple Hall.
Middle Temple Hall dates from 1562 and houses the finest example of an Elizabethan Hall in the country, featuring a magnificent double hammer beam roof, carved from the oak of Windsor Forest and an elaborately carved screen made in 1574. On our tour we learn about the history of Middle Temple and about the Inns of Court, the professional associations for barristers in England and Wales.
This event is also taking place on 22 April 2016.
