Oceania
Develop your artmaking skills and explore the diverse arts of Oceania, while gathering ideas to take back to your classroom, in a full-day workshop led by a practicing artist.
Inspired by the Oceania exhibition, this practical workshop for primary and secondary school teachers will draw on well-documented art and historic collections to explore the history, art and culture of the Oceanic region. Participants will have the opportunity to view and discuss seminal works created by contemporary artists, and to produce their own work, inspired by themes including exploration, transition, identity, culture and change.
The Oceania exhibition marks the 250th anniversary of the Royal Academy of Arts, which was founded in 1768, the same year that Captain James Cook set sail on his first expedition to the Pacific.
This workshop is designed for primary and secondary school teachers.
