The Taddei Tondo is the only marble sculpture by Michelangelo in the UK and one of the Royal Academy’s greatest treasures. It is an enigmatic work which raises a number of questions about the artist’s intentions. In this talk, we take a closer look at the figures Michelangelo depicted and why, consider whether or not the work is ‘finished’ and how it came to be in the Royal Academy Collection.

In this series of taster talks, encounter the stories behind the RA’s Collection and its buildings from the perspective of RA staff. Taster talks take place at 2pm on Mondays and Thursdays.

Taster talks are free and last 15 minutes. Ask a member of the team on site for further information.
