Many 18th-century British paintings feature naked men, often emphasising specific parts of the body, especially stomachs and thighs. But male genitalia are often treated differently, rendering the penis both present and absent in a lot of art of this period. Join us for this taster talk to look at some naked male bodies in sculpture and painting across the RA Collection. Let’s see what's there, what's missing, and think about why.
In this series of taster talks, encounter the stories behind the RA’s remarkable Collection and buildings from the RA staff’s insider perspective.
