Rhys Coren, The Perennial Pandangle, 2017.

Spray paint, acrylic and pencil on board. 60.7cm x 60.7cm. Courtesy of Seventeen and by Damian Griffiths.

Schools Patrons are invited to visit the studio of 2016 RA Schools graduate Rhys Coren. This exclusive studio tour will allow you to explore the studio and hear from the artist himself about his inspiration and current projects.

Rhys Coren works with animation, writing, performance and painted marquetry. Across all media, his works play with the concepts of rhythm, form, colour and texture, space and negative space. While his wall works contain cartoon-like clouds broken by grids of colour and texture, raking perspectives, drop shadows and the interplay of frenetic lines, Coren’s broad practice is strongly inspired by his experience of music, and in particular from the structure and strategies found in electronic dance music, jazz and disco.
