Abstract Expressionism
British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted event
Artist Rebecca Salter RA discusses paintings by Barnett Newman and Ad Reinhardt, in front of the works themselves, in this in-gallery talk.
Rebecca Salter RA highlights two works, Ad Reinhardt’s Abstract Painting, No 23, (1963) and Barnett Newman’s Midnight Blue (1970) in this in-gallery talk. Salter will explore the work of the two artists in the context of American post-war interest in Far Eastern art philosophy and religion, with particular reference to contemporary understandings of the Zen concepts of 'nothingness'.
Rebecca Salter RA is a painter and printmaker. While living in Japan she studied traditional Japanese woodblock printing and combines her interest in printmaking with her practice in painting. Salter exhibits regularly internationally and in London.
Free with an exhibition ticket (no booking required; limited headsets available, offered on a first-come, first-served basis).
This event will be sign language interpreted.
