Dalí / Duchamp
Enjoy three landmark exhibitions at a special edition of our private views – all in support of the RA’s fundraising appeal to complete the largest redevelopment in its history.
Explore Matisse in the Studio, Jasper Johns and Dalí / Duchamp away from the crowds until late, and step into the themes of the exhibitions through live music, entertainment and themed food and drink available to purchase. Tickets also include a complimentary welcome drink and a limited edition RA250 tote bag to celebrate our 250th anniversary and unveiling of the New Royal Academy in 2018.
Put on your dancing shoes and learn the Charleston dance with the Twin Swing duo, who will be giving high-energy pop-up performances inspired by the iconic dance moves of 1920s America, accompanied by live music from The Jazzes.
If the Charleston is too energetic for you, relax in Tregothnan’s urban-style tea garden and taste some truly British teas from the Tregothnan Estate in Cornwall. Purchase pioneering brews served from their famous tea trike and sit amongst the very tea bushes from which the tea is made.
Guests can also enjoy Dalí-themed pinchos and 2-for-1 cocktails, available to purchase in the Keeper’s House.
Dalí / Duchamp Take another look at two artistic giants: father of conceptual art Marcel Duchamp, and larger-than-life Surrealist Salvador Dalí. This is the first exhibition to throw light on their surprising relationship and its influence on the work of both artists. Dalí / Duchamp in the Weston Galleries will be open until 11pm.
Jasper Johns Regarded as one of the most important artists of the 20th century, Jasper Johns has remained central to American contemporary art since his arrival in New York in the 1950s. Jasper Johns in the Main Galleries will be open until midnight.
Matisse in the Studio Step into the studio of Henri Matisse, brimming with the artist’s treasured objects. Focusing exclusively on their important role in his work for the first time, we will reveal how this eclectic collection took on new life in his transcendent art. Matisse in the Studio in The Sackler Wing of Galleries will be open until 11pm.

Gallery
We’re transforming the Royal Academy in time for our 250th birthday in 2018.
Alongside an expanded programme of world-class exhibitions, our building redevelopment will reveal the elements that make the RA unique - our historic Collection, the work of the artists and architects who run the RA, and the art school at the heart of our campus. The development will ensure we can continue to meet our founding principles: to present a broad range of art to the widest possible audience; to stimulate artistic debate, understanding and creation; and offer free education to the next generation of leading artists.
Please join us in making this ambitious project possible through a range of unique experiences and support opportunities from the Royal Academy.
