Patrons: tour of the RA collection at Momart
Patrons are invited on a behind-scenes-tour of the historic RA Collection at Momart in East London.
This is a rare opportunity to visit the RA’s offsite collection store where paintings, sculpture and other works are stored (when not on display) in climate-controlled conditions. Patrons will enjoy an insight into how the RA cares for and manages its works of art while getting a close-up view of the collection.
The Royal Academy has always had a permanent collection, to use for teaching art and to represent the work of Royal Academicians. Since 1768, every artist elected Academician must select a work to submit to the Academy’s Collection. As a result, it represents an unparalleled visual timeline of the history of British art.
Established in 1972, Momart provides specialist art storage, art transport and installation service for collectors, galleries, museums and artists around the world. Momart received the Royal Warrant in 1993 by Her Majesty The Queen.
