Patrons private view: 'Michelangelo & Sebastiano'
Tuesday 13 June 2017 9 - 10am
National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, London
Free. Patrons only.
RA Patrons are invited to an early-morning private view of 'Michelangelo & Sebastiano' at the National Gallery.
At this National Gallery exhibition, Patrons will be able to view the RA’s The Virgin and Child with the Infant St John, the UK’s only marble relief sculpture by Michelangelo, alongside others works by the two great Masters of the Italian Renaissance.
The National Gallery’s exhibition explores the extraordinary relationship between Michelangelo and Sebastiano del Piombo, who found common ground in the fiercely competitive world of High Renaissance Rome.
Also known as the Taddei Tondo, The Virgin and Child with the Infant St John was bequeathed to the RA in 1830 by Sir George Beaumont; one of the people instrumental to the founding of the National Gallery.
RSVP, limited availability.
