Summer Exhibition 2019
Join us for a family friendly morning in the Summer Exhibition, with the chance to privately view the exhibition on one of our short educational tours, make a masterpiece in our craft workshop and enjoy a delicious breakfast.
Taking inspiration from the works adorning the walls of the RA main galleries, our interactive workshop will give you the chance to produce your very own piece of Summer Exhibition art.
Discover exciting new paintings, sculptures and prints while exploring the galleries on a special tour with artist educator, Harry Baxter.
Run without interruption since 1769, the Summer Exhibition is the world’s largest open submission art show and brings together a collage-like display of art in all mediums – prints and paintings, film, photography, sculpture, architectural works and more – by leading artists, Royal Academicians and household names as well as new and emerging talent. This year, acclaimed British painter Jock McFadyen RA will take the mantle from Grayson Perry to coordinate the 251st Summer Exhibition. As always, most of the artworks will be for sale with proceeds helping to fund the Academy’s non-profit making activities, including educating the next generation of artists in the RA Schools.
