This exciting weekend course will explore inventive approaches to painting, focusing on our relationship with nature, our perception of space and how to synthesise these experiences into personal works of art.
To coincide with the opening of Late Constable, this exciting two-day course will take inspiration from Constable's lesser-known landscapes to develop a series of works which harness colour, light and atmosphere in expressive ways. Working under the guidance of painter and expert tutor, Emyr Williams, participants will be introduced to the versatility of acrylic paints, exploring issues of colour theory as well as helping participants to develop their own personal style.
As well as providing the opportunity to draw and paint, participants will be introduced to key historical developments in the fields of painting and drawing, particularly considering Constable’s influence in England and beyond.
Course tutor Emyr Williams is an award-winning abstract painter who has exhibited in the UK, Europe, North America and Asia. A long-standing tutor on the RA’s Courses and Classes programme, he has taught internationally. His work explores the relationship between drawing and painting.
The number of participants is strictly limited to enable detailed feedback from the course tutor, as well as to ensure participants’ safety.
