Open Saturdays: Demonstrate & Create
Saturday 8 July 2017 2 - 3.30pm
The Learning Studio or The John Madejski Fine Rooms, Burlington House, Royal Academy of Arts.
Free, sign-up on the day in the Front Hall.
Join us at the RA on the second Saturday of every month for an artist-led taster workshop, focusing on a specific artistic technique each session.
In these monthly workshops, our artist will demonstrate an artistic technique relating to an object in the RA’s permanent collection or to a specific historical architectural feature of the building. This will be followed by a short creative session, supported by volunteers, in which you can create your own work inspired by the technique.
In this taster workshop, create your own modernist sculpture using slab-building techniques. From Sir Hugh Casson’s Elephant and Rhino House at London Zoo, to Anthony Caro’s assemblages, this workshop is inspired by modernist sculptors and architects whose work and designs can be found in the RA Collection.
Please sign up on the day in the Front Hall an hour before the session. These sessions are free but spaces are limited.
