Clare Balding

Clare Balding OBE joins Mary Nightingale for the eighth in our series of conversations, in which the ITV journalist and broadcaster talks to inspiring individuals in the cultural world.

On The Big Green Sofa with Mary Nightingale returns for its fourth season this April, when Mary’s guest will be Clare Balding OBE, one of Britain’s leading sport and factual entertainment broadcasters. She has presented six Olympic Games and virtually every other major sporting occasion of the past two decades. She is a successful amateur flat jockey, becoming Champion Lady Rider in 1990.

Her memoir, My Animals, and Other Family won the National Book Awards “Autobiography of the Year” in 2012 and she has gone on to become a bestselling author. In the last two years, Clare has published two children’s books to considerable acclaim and will be a World Book Day Author in 2018.

This event is produced by Roger James Elsgood, working with the Academicians’ Room team. Doors open at 7pm and the talk will start at 7.45pm.
