Summer Exhibition 2015
Join us in the RA Courtyard to encounter ‘Do-Re-Me’ a choreographic work by Nicola Conibere which will negotiate a path around the courtyard and operate in dialogue with Conrad Shawcross RA’s sculpture ‘The Dappled Light of the Sun’, created for the Summer Exhibition 2015.
For this event, the RA welcomes Block Universe Performance Art Festival to present a unique outdoor performance.
In Do-Re-Me two figures, wrapped around each other and within swathes of tarpaulin, navigate their way, slowly rolling across the RA courtyard. Creating a mass that appears both familiar and strange, the performers’ fragmented limbs flail and reach for movement, continually destabilising and transforming the integrity of each body’s form. At once compelling and playful, Do-Re-Me mines the relationship between people, space and matter, and through these qualities converses with Shawcross’ sculptural installation The Dappled Light of the Sun.
Do-Re-Me is part of the inaugural programme for Block Universe, an annual festival that brings together a new wave of cutting-edge performance art at the cross-section of contemporary visual art, dance and music in venues across London. Visit their website for more details.
