Bill Viola / Michelangelo
A creative workshop inspired by artworks in the exhibition 'Bill Viola / Michelangelo'.
This exhibition brings together the work of two artists – born centuries apart – whose work explores the same universal themes of birth, life and death. In this session, two artist educators support participants to experience and share their responses to a range of works, from Michelangelo’s exquisite drawings to Bill Viola’s immersive film and sound installations. Afterwards, participants are guided to create their own artworks exploring the use of the body in expressing emotional states.
These workshops are designed for groups working with disabled adults or adults at risk of exclusion from arts and culture. We advise groups be fewer than 15 people so we can ensure everyone attending is properly supported to engage with the workshop.
