Intrigue: James Ensor by Luc Tuymans
The witching hour is upon us: we’re keeping the doors of the RA open for a spooky Halloween evening.
Explore our eerily good exhibitions: enter the weird and wonderful world of James Ensor, whose paintings are filled with leering masks, haunted carnivals, flamboyant costumes and skeleton painters. Discover a childhood spent among the fantastical treasures of his family’s curiosity shop, which sowed the seeds of his wild imagination. Or move into the heady and intoxicating realm of Abstract Expressionism: of tortured artists and tavern brawls, with bewildering colour play across their all-encompassing canvases.
We’ll be serving up special potions of cocktails, including Vampire’s Bite and Cannibal Corpse, and painting faces in various shades of ghoul throughout the evening.
For just the cost of a standard exhibition ticket, you can explore our ghostly galleries and take part in Halloween-themed activities. We'll also be selling two-for-one cocktails all night, plus spooky snacks in the Grand Café. Come if you dare!
