Giving to the RA in your will: Find out more
Wednesday 24 February 2016 12.30 - 2.30pm
The John Madejski Fine Rooms, Burlington House, Royal Academy of Arts
Free, booking required.
Find out more about how your will could help protect the future of the RA, and hear top tips from a legal professional on the best way to make your will.
Having an up to date will is vital to ensure that, in the future, your family and friends are provided for, that the causes you are closest to or the places that have been important to you can be protected.
Over the years, the Royal Academy has kindly received gifts of all sizes, which have made an incredible difference to all that we do. This event is an opportunity to hear how to approach writing a will, what a gift to the RA could help achieve and to ask a legal professional your questions in an informal setting.
The event will also feature an opportunity to hear from our Collections staff about some of the works which have been left as bequests, and are protected for the future through their care.
Susan Johnson is a specialist in estate planning at the leading law firm, Bircham Dyson Bell. Susan was previously head of the Trust and Estates Team at Moore Stephens and headed the Heritage and Taxation Advisory Service at Christie’s.
Matthew Watters is the Legacy Manager at the Royal Academy of Arts. He works to show how important legacy gifts have been to the RA, as well as ensuring the gifts we receive are handled in accordance with the wishes of the person who has given.
Our Collections staff will also be on hand to share their specialist knowledge about an item from the RA Collection held under their care.
Please arrive from 12.30pm. Refreshments and a light sandwich luncheon will be provided.
Talks will begin at 1pm and last until approx. 2pm.
Following the event, guests will be free to stay for further refreshments and to ask questions.
The event is open to all who wish to support the Royal Academy and learn more about giving through their will.
Booking is essential for this event. If you wish to bring a guest please book one ticket for each person.
If you have any questions about the event, please contact us on legacies@royalacademy.org.uk or 020 7300 5677.
