Rita Angus: New Zealand Modernist
We invite Friends of the RA to join us for an exclusive preview of our exhibition ‘Rita Angus: New Zealand Modernist’ before it opens to the public.
The Friends Previews of Rita Angus: New Zealand Modernist will be available to book soon. Keep an eye on the RA website and your weekly Friends e-newsletter for the latest updates.
Rita Angus is one of the greatest New Zealand artists of the 20th century. Fifty years after her death, this revelatory exhibition will be the very first to bring her pioneering vision beyond the shores of her home country.
Through over 70 vivid portraits, landscapes and still lifes, this long-overdue survey charts the remarkable career of a fiercely independent woman, who like many of her contemporaries across the world – Frida Kahlo, Alice Neel and Emily Carr among others – changed the artistic landscape of her native New Zealand forever.
This event is open to Friends of the RA, RA250 Friends and RA250 Supporters and members of the Academicians’ Room only. Booking for this event will be live soon, please check back for updates.
