We invite Friends of the RA to join us for an exclusive preview of our exhibition ‘Cézanne: The Rock and Quarry Paintings’ before it opens to the public.

With their radiant colours and rugged forms, Paul Cézanne’s paintings of the rocky landscapes of his native France are among the most extraordinary of his career.

Based on new research, this focused exhibition brings together works in which rocks are the central motif, several of which have not been seen together before. It contrasts the robust presence of the rocks in the oil paintings with the ethereal, almost abstract shapes in the watercolours.

As a Friend of the RA, be the first to experience the exhibition at your exclusive preview days, three days ahead of the public opening.

This event is open to Friends of the RA, RA250 Friends and RA250 Supporters and members of the Academicians’ Room only.
