Jean-Etienne Liotard
Friends of the RA are invited to a Preview of 'Jean-Etienne Liotard' before it opens to the public.
Friends of the RA are invited to see this first retrospective exhibition in the UK to be devoted to Jean-Etienne Liotard, bringing together over 70 rarely-seen works. Make sure you are among the first to see the exhibition at the exclusive Friends preview.
Liotard was an artist in great demand across Enlightenment Europe and beyond. An eccentric and distinctive portraitist, his work conjures up the magnificence and cultural curiosity of the age in vividly lifelike detail.
Born at the dawning of the 18th century, this idiosyncratic Swiss artist was one of the most accomplished portraitists of his age. An eccentric and distinctive portraitist, he also made carefully observed scenes of contemporary life in far-flung locales.
The Friends Previews are very popular, and to ensure an enjoyable viewing experience we are ticketing this event. As a Friend you can still experience the exhibition for free with a guest but please book your preferred viewing time to ensure entry. Should you arrive without a booking, we will do our best to accommodate you but may need to delay access during busy times. Thank you for your continued support.
