Friends are invited to join a monthly film club at the Royal Academy of Arts where artists turned filmmakers screen and discuss their work. Here, we welcome Hulse to present his latest film, 'Dummy Jim', and a selection of short films.
Working "in the twilight zone between art and cinema", Matt Hulse has been making award winning films and artworks for 20 years. Having been screened in 25 countries worldwide, he is currently developing projects in China, North Korea and the UK, and has just completed a Scottish tour with his latest feature film, ‘Dummy Jim’, a dramatic recreation of the journey of deaf cyclist James Duthie from Scotland to the Arctic Circle. Experimental, poetic and emotive, the film has also formed the subject for an exhibition and a recently published book, becoming an ever-evolving project for its creator.
Here, we welcome Hulse to present his latest film, ‘Dummy Jim’, and a selection of short films.
Booking is essential for this event, if you wish to bring a guest please book one ticket for each person.
Tickets include a welcome drink and popcorn.

The East End Film Festival with the Royal Academy or Arts
The East End Film Festival is one of the largest multimedia arts festivals in London. Presenting some of the most inspiring and boundary pushing new films from all over the world to London audiences each summer, the festival is a home for cross platform work, and artists who embrace a movement between mediums.
The EEFF is now collaborating with the Royal Academy on a series of special film screenings exploring the work of multimedia artists embracing the possibilities of combining film with a variety of other art forms, with an increasing drive towards feature filmmaking.
