Join Friends as we tour the Whitechapel Bell Foundry, famous for the design and manufacture of the Liberty Bell in 1752 and Big Ben in 1858.
Established in 1570, the Whitechapel Bell Foundry is Britain’s oldest manufacturing company and is still in operation today. On this fascinating tour we learn about its history and the enormous variety of bells it has produced and continues to produce for buildings in the UK and abroad. We learn about the intriguing production processes involved in creating their array of different bells and explore the historic workspaces of this Grade II-listed building, which dates back to 1670.
Please note there are uneven floors and steep staircases. Children under 16 are not permitted on this tour.
This event is also taking place on 25 February 2017.
