Booking and attending Friends excursions and events
One of the twelve Great Livery Companies, for centuries Vintners' Hall has been known for its involvement in the importation, regulation and sale of wine.
Granted a Royal Charter in 1364, the vintners of London have possessed a Hall situated between Upper Thames Street and the Thames since the fifteenth century. The Great Fire of London destroyed most of the building and a new, grander Hall was built in the 1670s. We tour the principle rooms including the Court Room, Boardroom and Livery Hall, and explore the fascinating collection of paintings, silver, glass and textiles.
One highlight of the collection is a tapestry in the Drawing Room depicting the legend of St Martin, the patron saint of vintners, which was originally made for Canterbury Cathedral. We finish our tour with a glass of wine in the Swan and Gassiot Rooms.
This event is also taking place on 1 November 2016.
