A rare opportunity to tour this quintessential private members’ club and learn about its colourful and fascinating history.
The Savile Club was established in 1868, by a like-minded group of writers and artists who wanted a club that was more informal and friendly than those in the established Victorian clubland. Some of its past members include Edward Elgar, Thomas Hardy and H. G. Wells.
On this special tour, led by the Secretary of the Savile Club, we visit the principal rooms including the salon, bar and library, which contain some of the most exquisite French interiors surviving in London. We also visit the stunning mirrored ballroom and go behind the scenes to visit some of the bedrooms and the areas below-stairs.
This event is also taking place on 28 October 2016 and 16 November 2016.
