Join us for this Friends tour of Saddlers’ Hall and viewing of the silver collection. Saddlers’ Hall is the private city mansion of one of the oldest city livery companies, the Worshipful Company of Saddlers.
Destroyed by the Great Fire of London and then bombed during the Blitz, the original Saddlers’ Hall dates back to 1160 and has been rebuilt several times.
After coffee, Friends will enjoy a presentation on the history of livery halls, tour the rebuilt hall with the Beadle and enjoy a rare viewing of the company’s treasures by the Silver Steward. These include the King’s Saddle, which is said to have been used at the coronation of King George III in 1760, and Charles II-era ‘Fisher’ and ‘Dashwood’ Cups.
