Friends excursions: Portcullis House contemporary portrait collection
By special arrangement we are delighted to offer a private guided tour for Friends of the RA of the House of Commons’ contemporary portrait collection, displayed at Portcullis House.
Highlights of the collection include Churchill’s Last Day in the Commons by Gerald Scarfe, a bronze bust of the Rt Hon Betty Boothroyd and an intriguing portrait of the Rt Hon Tony Benn featuring objects chosen for their significance to his personal or professional life.
Our tour is followed by a walk through the tunnel that leads under Parliament Square to the Palace of Westminster where we have drinks and an insightful talk given by the Curator of the Parliamentary Art Collection, giving an overview of the collection from a Curator’s point of view and explaining what they collect and why.
