Booking and attending Friends excursions and events
The Linnean Society of London is the world’s oldest active biological society. Enjoy a talk on the history of the society and view treasures from the specimens and documents in the strongroom.
Founded in 1788, the society takes its name from the Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus (1707–1778). After a talk from a member of the library team, Friends have a chance to visit the strong room to view the collection and hear about Linnaeus, whose botanical, zoological and library collections have been in its keeping since 1829.
This tour for Friends of the RA will end in the library for a discussion on the items held in the library and some of the artworks on display.
This event is also taking place on 31 October 2016 and 21 November 2016
