Booking and attending Friends excursions and events
Friends tour the studios and workshops of the Goldsmiths’ Centre; a unique enterprise whose facilities combine practical training for apprentice jewellers, gold and silversmiths with fully-equipped studios for professional craftsmen and women.
The Goldsmith's Centre is located in the heart of Clerkenwell’s design quarter near Hatton Garden. The RIBA Award-winning building, designed by Lyall, Bills & Young was completed in 2012 and combines an existing Grade II-listed 1872 Victorian London Board School with a four-storey contemporary extension, which houses both workshop and studio spaces.
Friends visit the Goldsmiths’ Centre’s professional workshops to see younger apprentices at work and discover how the centre supports emerging designers and young trainees, helping them build successful careers. Friends will also visit a selection of professional studios to view various craft techniques and enjoy an exhibition that showcases some of the designers’ work.
This event will also be held on 18 January.
