Take a tour of the rich maritime history of Rotherhithe and enjoy an exclusive visit to Brunel’s famous Thames Tunnel.
The legendary genius of Isambard Kingdom Brunel is evident in his development of Rotherhithe and his engineering triumph: the Thames tunnel. On this walk, Friends enjoy an exclusive opportunity to descend into the grand entrance hall of the tunnel’s chamber, which is half the size of the Globe Theatre. Led by representatives from the Brunel Museum, Friends will also learn about the history of both trade and poverty in Rotherhithe and view the spot where Turner painted The Fighting Temeraire.
This event will also be held on 4 September 2018
