Booking and attending Friends excursions and events
Join Friends for a rare private tour of the former home of art collector Stanley Picker and discover his astonishing collection of paintings, sculptures and furniture.
A lifelong patron and collector of the arts, Stanley Picker (1913–1982) amassed a collection that serves as a fascinating depiction of London’s art market in the 1950s. Many of the items were acquired in this decade through Picker’s personal relationships with gallery owners. On this tour, we’ll visit the unique house that holds the collection, which was built for Picker in 1968 by architect Kenneth Wood. This late-modernist creation designed specifically to showcase this surprising selection of work which includes pieces by Marc Chagall, Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore and L. S. Lowry RA.
Please note: there is restricted access for people with limited mobility and no lift. Limited parking spaces will be available to pre-book – full details with ticket.
