Talented storytellers and illustrators Cressida Cowell and Chris Riddell discuss the art of marrying words and pictures and do some drawing live on stage.
Join two of the most prestigious and inspiring storytellers in a spectacular event that celebrates words and pictures. Between them, the pair have created some of the most iconic characters in children’s literature. Discover the stories behind their creations and learn how to draw some of their beloved characters.
Cressida Cowell is the author and the illustrator of the bestselling How to Train Your Dragon and The Wizards of Once series, and the author of the Emily Brown picture books. How to Train Your Dragon has sold over 8 million books worldwide in 37 languages. She has won numerous prizes for her books, including the Gold Award in the Nestle Children's Book Prize and The Blue Peter Book Award. She grew up in London and on a small, uninhabited island off the west coast of Scotland and now lives in Hammersmith with her husband, three children and a dog called Pigeon.
Chris Riddell, the 2015 to 2017 Children's Laureate, is an accomplished artist and the political cartoonist for the Observer. His books have won a number of major prizes, including an unprecedented 3 CILIP Kate Greenaway Medals in 2001, 2004 and 2016. Goth Girl and the Ghost of a Mouse won the Costa Children's Book Award 2013. Chris was honoured with an OBE for services to illustration and charity in 2018. He lives in Brighton with his family.

Cressida Cowell and Chris Riddell will be signing books in the Burlington Gardens entrance hall, outside Pace Gallery, after the event.
