Family workshop for children with SEND: chasing rainbows
Special educational needs and disabilities
Sunday 14 April 2019 11am - 1pm
Clore Learning Centre, Royal Academy of Arts, Burlington Gardens entrance
Free, booking required.
Discover how Sarah Pickstone's giant installation, ‘The Rainbow’, was inspired by Angelica Kauffman RA, a founding member of the Royal Academy. Then, create your own colourful homage to Kauffman.
Walk into the Royal Academy and look up – what do you see? The ceiling paintings are by Angelica Kauffman RA and created specially for the Royal Academy, which she helped found in 1768.
In this workshop, create your own artwork inspired by Kauffman’s colourful cast of characters: Colour, Design, Composition and Invention, imagined as four female figures. To help us along, we’ll also see how RA Schools alumna, Sarah Pickstone, made her own artwork dedicated to Kauffman in her giant display, The Rainbow.
This workshop will be led by experienced artist and educator, Cash Aspeek, and is aimed at children with special educational needs and disabilities. Please state any access needs upon booking and we will tailor the workshop to your family.
