During this in-depth, two-day painting class, participants will explore still life and interiors, beginning with observational drawings and moving to working in paint.
Examining space, composition and colour theory, artist David Webb will encourage participants to respond in experimental, expressive and imaginative ways.
10.30am – 4.30pm each day.
About the tutor – David Webb
David Webb has appeared in many solo and group exhibitions in London, the UK and internationally. He was one of the Jerwood Contemporary Painters award winners in 2009 and has received fellowships from Yaddo and the MacDowell Colony in the USA. David has taught at Hull and Leeds University, The Blackheath Conservatoire and for the Royal Academy of Arts.
This class is suitable for all levels, though prior experience of painting and drawing is preferable.
This class is for you if:
• You paint and draw, or would like to learn more about painting and drawing from still life or the interior.
• You want to learn more about approaches to still life, focussing primarily on colour and exploring the possibilities of abstraction and semi-abstraction.
• You want to learn more about the importance of still life in terms of art history.
Maximum 15 participants.
Painting materials, lunches and wine on Saturday will be provided.
Our short courses and classes offer the opportunity to explore subjects ranging from life drawing to the history of portraiture, led by expert tutors and practising artists. These courses introduce traditional art-making processes, as well as perspectives on the history of art and language.
