Friends explore the stunning interiors and rich history of Ditchley Park.
Having been a prominent house since Roman times, with owners such as Elizabeth’s Champion Sir Henry Lee, the present Ditchley Park was built in 1722, to a design by James Gibbs. Gibbs was architect of St Martins in the Fields and the Radcliffe Camera. Ditchley’s interiors were richly decorated by William Kent and Henry Flitcroft. The extensive grounds contain garden features such as the Great Temple by Leadbetter and the Ha Ha by Louden, and were redesigned by Jellicoe.
On this tour Friends can explore Ditchley’s wonderful 18th Century interiors, and learn about its history including how Ditchley was used as a base by Churchill in the Second World War.
£50, including coach and tea.
