Demonstrate & Create
Saturday 9 May 2020 2 - 3.30pm
The Clore Learning Centre, Burlington Gardens, Royal Academy of Arts
Free, no booking required.
Join us at the RA for an artist-led taster workshop, focusing on a specific artistic technique.
Due to the ongoing circumstances surrounding coronavirus, we regret to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel all events advertised for 2020 at this moment.
This workshop will focus on combining clay decorative surface techniques to create a patterned clay picture. Taking inspiration from landscape paintings in the Royal Academy collections, you will use sgraffito, underglazes and tissue transfers to make your own landscape on a flat tile of clay.
In these monthly workshops, our artist will demonstrate an artistic technique relating to an object in the RA’s permanent Collection or to a specific historical architectural feature of the building. This will be followed by a short creative session, supported by volunteers, in which you can create your own work inspired by the technique.
To sign up, look out for our volunteers in the Wohl Entrance Hall, Burlington Gardens from 1pm. These sessions are free but spaces are limited. These sessions are recommended for ages 11 and above.
