The Royal Academy Collection Gallery

Join President of the Royal Academy Christopher Le Brun and Head of Collections Maurice Davies as they reveal what went on behind the scenes in the development of the RA’s new Collection gallery.

For our 250th anniversary, we’ve revealed the historic treasures of our Collection in a new dedicated gallery curated by the RA’s President Christopher Le Brun. Join him in conversation with Head of Collections Maurice Davies, to find out how he selected just 70 works from a collection of some 50,000 works that spans 500 years.

Why did Christopher choose the themes and works that he did? Which works did he choose not to include and why? Get a unique insight into the many complex and subtle decisions that had to be made in order to create the RA’s most ambitious display of its Collection for several decades.
