Friends and Academicians’ Room members life drawing: gesture drawing – developing a visual shorthand
An exclusive opportunity to enjoy monthly life-drawing sessions for Friends and Academicians’ Room members in the Sir Hugh Casson Room, designed to be both rewarding and fun. This month’s session concentrates on developing a visual shorthand.
Using a series of short poses, students will attempt to perceive the subject in its entirety using a limited number of marks. The aim is to distil the essence and attitude of a particular gesture. These poses will progressively increase in time, so that the initial gesture drawing is then further refined.
