Due to the ongoing circumstances surrounding coronavirus, we regret to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel all events advertised for 2020 at this moment. If you have purchased tickets to an event, please contact us on 0207 300 8090 or tickets@royalacademy.org.uk and include your order number to arrange a refund. We aim to reply within 5 working days.
In anticipation of the Angelica Kauffman exhibition at the RA, Sarah Pickstone will lead a weekend workshop – drawing images from art history and translating the imagery into large-scale, experimental painting.
You'll explore the techniques used in making these works while developing a greater understanding of picture making and a contemporary understanding of art in history. Beginning with charcoal and pastels, you'll go on to explore techniques in acrylic and watercolours
Working from the initial images, participants will be encouraged to use their imagination and develop their confidence when working with line, colour and mark-making.
Sarah Pickstone is an award-winning artist and an alumna of the RA Schools. In 2018-19 Sarah exhibited An Allegory of Painting at the RA: two large installed paintings, in celebration of the life and work of Angelica Kauffman founding member of the RA.
Minimum age 18. If you have any accessibility needs, please contact academic.programmes@royalacademy.org.uk
