Try your hand at life drawing with an expert tutor in this three-hour class, focused on the anatomy of the human body.
Due to the ongoing circumstances surrounding coronavirus, we regret to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s RA Festival of Ideas. If you have purchased tickets to an event, please contact us on 0207 300 8090 or tickets@royalacademy.org.uk to arrange a refund.
Whether you are a regular participant, would like to hone your skills or try life drawing for the first time, this session, taught by Adele Wagstaff, is a wonderful way to experience life drawing in a supportive and friendly environment.
In each three-hour session, participants will explore a range of drawing materials, paying particular attention to the anatomy of the human form and practice drawing the model in a series of short and long poses.
The Life Room has been instrumental in the study of the human body for the RA Schools. Usually closed to the public, this unique space was designed in the 1860s and is purpose-built for drawing from life. Follow in the footsteps of generations of Royal Academy artists and students and join us for a guided anatomical life drawing class.
Adele Wagstaff has been shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize and the BP Portrait Award, and her work has been exhibited in the National Portrait Gallery, Royal West of England Academy and the Canadian Portrait Academy. Following on from her graduation from the Slade School of Art, where she focused on working from the nude in sustained poses, her practice continues to look at the human figure and still life.
Please note this event is made up of two workshops. We recommend booking onto either the morning session or the afternoon.
Minimum age 18. If you have any accessibility needs, please contact academic.programmes@royalacademy.org.uk
