The Great Spectacle
This is an event for blind and partially sighted visitors. Join us for an audio described tour of the exhibition, followed by refreshments and a handling session.
The Great Spectacle tells the story of 250 years of the Summer Exhibition, the world’s biggest open-submission exhibition and longest running annual display of contemporary art. Every summer since 1769, the Academy’s galleries have been crowded with people eager to see the huge range of works produced by some of Britain’s leading artists.
Join us for this audio-described tour and handling session to relive a series of seminal moments in the history of the Summer Exhibition and see works from Joshua Reynolds to Wolfgang Tillmans.
