The Royal Academy’s renowned Art of Sound series welcomes the genre-defying quartet, Penya, to the club room for the first time.
Penya are a genre-defying quartet whose music fuses traditional folkloric rhythms, club culture motifs and DIY electronics. This April, their drums, horn and vocals promise to transform the club room into a euphoric, visceral dance-scape.
The band’s debut LP Superliminal (Jan 2018) quickly achieved critical acclaim from a host of taste-makers and artists including Gilles Peterson, Bonobo, Tom Ravenscroft, WorldWide FM, Jeremy Sole, Late Junction (BBC Radio 3) and Boiler Room.
This event is open to the Friends of the RA, RA250 Friends and RA250 Supporters and members of the Academicians’ Room. There are also a limited number of tickets available to the general public. Please book online or call 020 7300 8090.
