Abstract Expressionism
Join us for an informal, drop-in conversation and share your thoughts about our current 'Abstract Expressionism' exhibition.
In these monthly book club-style discussions, we’ll be opening up the floor to comments, questions and responses to our exhibitions.
This month we focus on Abstract Expressionism – the first major UK exhibition to survey this groundbreaking movement since its 1950s heyday. How does seeing the movement as a whole affect your appreciation of the art? Were there works or artists that made a particularly strong impact on you?
Leading this month’s conversation is Ben Street, an art historian, museum educator, lecturer and writer. He writes for the magazines Art Review and Apollo and lectures for a for a variety of institutions, including the National Gallery, Tate, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Royal Academy.
The bar will be open in the Casson Room for drinks and snacks, which you are welcome to bring through into the Belle Shenkman Room.
