Abstract Expressionism
Join us for an informal, drop-in conversation and share your thoughts about our current 'Abstract Expressionism' exhibition.
In these monthly book club-style discussions, we’ll be opening up the floor to comments, questions and responses to our exhibitions.
This month we focus on Abstract Expressionism – the first major UK exhibition to survey this groundbreaking movement since its 1950s heyday. How does seeing the movement as a whole affect your appreciation of the art? Were there works or artists that made a particularly strong impact on you? Whether you’ve already seen the exhibition or are planning to visit on the night, we welcome you to come and hear what others think of the show and share your own views.
Leading this month’s conversation is Kim Jacobson, an artist educator at the RA who has also worked with museums, universities and schools across the UK. Kim's own art practice revolves around drawing and painting with charcoal, ink, pastel and graphite. She also teaches studio-based practical art.
The bar will be open in the Casson Room for drinks and snacks, which you are welcome to bring through into the Belle Shenkman Room.
