Summer Exhibition 2017
Join us in the Main Galleries for a private breakfast and curator-led tour of the Summer Exhibition, focusing on the architecture submissions.
Architecture has been at the heart of the Royal Academy since its foundation in 1768. Its annual inclusion in the Summer Exhibition, now in its 249th year, has allowed the public to explore Royal Academician architects’ designs and models alongside other contemporary well-established and emerging practices.
This year the architecture room will celebrate architecture as an “instruction-based art”. It is curated by Farshid Moussavi RA, principal of Farshid Moussavi Architecture and Professor in Practice of Architecture at Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
Friends summer party
Join us in our Main Galleries as we celebrate the Summer Exhibition, the world’s largest open-submission contemporary art show. Now in its 249th year, the Summer Exhibition provides a unique platform for emerging and established artists to showcase works across painting and printmaking, photography, sculpture, architecture and film.
At this party, Friends can experience the Summer Exhibition like never before, with live music, delicious canapés and prosecco served throughout the evening. Tickets include a donation to the redevelopment of the RA.
