Antony Gormley
We invite members of the Academicians’ Room to join us for an exclusive private view of our exhibitions ‘Antony Gormley’ and ‘Lucian Freud: The Self-portraits’, with a complimentary breakfast.
Ahead of the galleries opening to the public, this is an intimate opportunity to browse the major installations of Antony Gormley and the self-portraits of Lucian Freud at your leisure away from the crowds.
A light breakfast of fresh pastries and artisan coffee will be held in the Academicians' Room. Food and drink will not be permitted into the galleries.
Antony Gormley
Following in the footsteps of Ai Weiwei and Anselm Kiefer, Antony Gormley will take over our Main Galleries for our next major show this autumn. Exploring his whole career, including rarely-seen early works, pocket workbooks and drawings, this illuminating exhibition is his most ambitious in ten years.
Through a series of experiential installations in iron, steel, seawater and clay, we invite you to find your own path through the exhibition, sometimes through and around the artworks themselves.
Lucian Freud: The Self-portraits
In a world-first, we unite Lucian Freud’s self-portraits in one extraordinary exhibition. See more than 50 paintings, prints and drawings in which this modern master of British art turns his unflinching eye firmly on himself.
This event is open to members of the Academicians’ Room only. To book, please call 020 7300 8090 or email academiciansroom@royalacademy.org.uk.
