Academicians’ Room: breakfast and private view of our spring exhibitions

Private view

Friday 15 March 2019
8.30 — 10am

The Academicians' Room members breakfast

We invite members of the Academicians’ Room to an exclusive breakfast and a private view of three exhibitions – Bill Viola / Michaelangelo: Life, Death, Rebirth, Phyllida Barlow RA: cul-de-sac and The Renaissance Nude.

Join us for a special breakfast and a private view of our highly anticipated spring exhibitions:

Bill Viola / Michelangelo: Life, Death, Rebirth

Conceived as a journey through the cycle of life, this powerful exhibition will bring together 12 major immersive installations by the pioneering video artist Bill Viola with 14 rarely-seen drawings by Michelangelo, along with the Academy’s own ‘Taddei Tondo’, exploring the two artists’ shared concerns with the fundamental themes of life, death and rebirth.

Phyllida Barlow RA: cul-de-sac

From the Venice Biennale and Tate Britain to Zurich’s Kunsthalle, Phyllida Barlow’s colourful creations have reconfigured spaces around the world. Inspired by our new galleries, she will take a fresh approach to her upcoming work, challenging our perception of scale and space.

The Renaissance Nude

Trace the development of the nude through some of the great masters of the Renaissance. Bringing together works by artists such as Titian, Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo, Dürer and Cranach, we shed light on a visual tradition across Europe at its most vital moment.

This event is open to members of the Academicians’ Room only.
