William Strang, R.A., 1903

Sir George Frampton RA (1860 - 1928)

RA Collection: Art

George Frampton presented this bust to William Strang in 1903. In the same year Strang painted Frampton's portrait (The Art Workers Guild), in the background of which sits a plaster version of this bust. A painter and printmaker, Strang studied at the Slade under Alphonse Legros and later became his assistant. Both Strang and Frampton were influenced by French and Belgian Symbolist art as well as the work of the Vienna Secessionists.
