Sir George Clausen RA, View of a farm through trees

View of a farm through trees, probably 1920s/30s

Sir George Clausen RA (1852 - 1944)

RA Collection: Art

This drawing of farm buildings and hay stacks seen through trees in the foreground is annotated with colour notes, which suggests that this was probably a preparatory sketch for a painting.

The exact location of the scene has not been identified but the drawing is likely to have been made on one of Clausen's frequent cycling trips around the Essex countryside during the early decades of the twentieth century.
