View of the Royal Academy of Arts Library when it was situated on the ground floor of Burlington House.The Library was designed by William Curtis Green RA within what is now the Friends' Room. The photograph shows the Corinthian columns designed by Samuel Ware (1781-1860) that originally divided the room. The Library was established at the Academy's foundation in 1768 and is the oldest institutional fine-arts library in the UK.
